USA : PETITION POUR LA MISE EN VENTE LIBRE DE LA CONTRACEPTION D'URGENCE

Plus de 60 groupes tant médicaux que de femmes ont remis une pétition à la FDA aujourd'hui en faveur de la vente libre de la contraception d'urgence pour "améliorer l'accessibilité des pilules aux femmes".
Le ' Center for Reproductive Law and Policy (CRLP)" représente les pétitionnaires, qui incluent l'Association Médicale américaine des femmes et la Fédération du Planning Familial Américaine.

Bonnie Scott Jones du staff du CRLP a expliqué que rendre la contraception d'urgence disponible sans prescription "est un simple pas qui pourrait radicalement réduire le nombre de grossesses non plannifiées" . Elle a ajouté, " La contraception d'urgence est plus sûre que l'aspirine et tout aussi facile à employer par les femmes "
Paul Blumenthal, directeur médical du Planning "Planned Parenthood's Maryland" et professeur associé d'Obstétrique et de Gynécologie à l' Université Johns Hopkins , a dit, "Il y a un grand nombre de médecins qui ne disent aux patientes la disponibilité" de la contraception d'urgence, ajoutant que, si elle était en vente libre,"les gens la demandanderaient ."

US GROUPS PETITION FOR EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION OVER THE COUNTER

More than 60 medical and women's groups have petitioned the FDA today to make emergency contraception available over the counter to "improve women's access" to the pills. The Center for Reproductive Law and Policy represents the petitioners, which include the American Medical Women's Association and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
CRLP staff attorney Bonnie Scott Jones explained that making emergency contraception available without a prescription "is a simple step that could drastically reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies" . She added, "Emergency contraception is safer than aspirin and just as easy for women to use"
Paul Blumenthal, medical director of Planned Parenthood's Maryland affiliate and associate professor of obstretics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins University, said, "There are a lot of doctors who are not telling patients about the availability" of emergency contraception, adding that, if it were available over the counter, "people would start asking for it."
The FDA has 180 days to review the petition.
