Travel Talk- (Libra Multimedia).
Travel Talk is multimedia CD designed for assisting Scandinavian speakers with basic English communication skills. The program has three main parts:
1. Word lists: thirty six word lists covering themes such as travel, eating, country names and emergency situations
2. Common phrases: twelve different themes such as asking directions and simple conversations
3. Dialogues: covering the same areas as the common phrases with two dialogues per theme.
While providing a good but basic preparation for Scandinavians planning to use English as a travelling language, the CD has little to offer students of Danish (or Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish). The little spoken Danish relates to instructions for using the CD and the written Danish is simple and mostly covers phrases used in everyday communication. It can however, be used to test and practice basic vocabulary of the hundreds or words contained within the word lists. Similarly, the common phrases section can be used to test written understanding of around 100 common Danish phrases.
