| 25 October 2003What a start to the game: 4 goals in twelve minutes. We sure make it difficult for ourselves sometimes. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to complete the come-back of the decade. And we lost Bozo to boot. 18 October 2003No game for us, a wedding party instead. A fine one it was too. Meanwhile, results elsewhere went well for us. A few more wins and we're pushing for the title again! 11 October 2003Confirmation that next week we do NOT have a game to play (postponed to 20
December!), instead we are to
travel to Dutchie and Nicolette's wedding in Stiphout, near Eindhoven.
Directions will follow. 4 October 2003Two weeks' worth this time (thanks to a week's holiday in sunny Italy). First there was a disappointing draw away to Breughel 88 (shocking how easily we gave away a 3-1 half-time lead) and then, the crunch game, MBFC A meets MBFC B. And lo and behold, Los Amigos crumbled under our relentless pressure in the second half to finish honours even (3-3). 20 September 2003The MBFC scoring machine rolls on. Another seven goals added to our tally. Poor Strambam, they were hopelessly outplayed. Next up: Breughel 88, who haven't dropped a point yet. 17 September 2003New feature launched: a 'Lost and Found' page where you can state what item (of clothing) you have lost following a football game/training session and where you can reclaim one of the listed items! 13 September 2003What a glorious day! Under a clear blue sky MBFC demolished 10-man BW Torfs Sport. The final scoreline was flattering to them, they agreed afterwards. Bring on Strambam next week! 6 September 2003A disappointing start to the season in one respect - we lost - but promising in another - we kept coming at them. After the game we all agreed: RM will not go back up again and we need a proper second goalie... 30 August 2003Keukens Vasco proved to be too strong for MBFC. But the 5-nil scoreline did not reflect the true balance of play. Bring on the league! 6 August 2003MBFC strikes a deal with Tuinwijk for joint training sessions on Thursdays
(20h-21h30) at their pitch in Merksem from 21 August onwards. See Season 2003-04
for directions. 10 July 2003MBFC gets ready for its fourth season in second division. 29 March 2003Disaster strikes! MBFC loses its final game of the season! And the reports from Christel, our spy at Deurnese Turners, are not encouraging: Los Incas Peru are playing very well and deserve to win. Luckily for us the Turnips do us a favour by earning a draw. We're saved from relegation! Hurrah! 22 March 2003Another defeat at the hands of Deurnese Turners and some bizarre (suspicious?) results elsewhere mean that things are going right to the wire. Last game of the season to decide everything. If we win, we stay up. If we lose or draw, we have to wait for the other results. So let's just beat GP Hoboken next week! 15 March 2003Another day, another poor ref and yes, another poor display by some of us. Maybe we should revert to our original plan: go training for a change... 22 February 2003As a fare-thee-well gift to David Garcia we managed to produce a totally lacklustre performance. A good thing we improved later on, at the dinner. Mind you, that wasn't too difficult! Suffice to say that we lost (4-0) and that the referee was slightly biased, as Flemish Peter's battered and bruised ankles can testify: only once did he hear the whistle in his favour, when the game was already dead. Oh and, Athletico Joh are crowned champions in our league: the Turnips are 10 points behind with only 3 games to play. 15 February 2003De Nieuwe Klok versus Molly Blooms, or how a two-goal lead was squandered in the final minutes. A battling performance that should have seen us walk away with all three points instead of the one. And to think we would have settled for a draw before the game... 13 February 2003A change in the programme: the postponed game against GP Hoboken is scheduled for 29 March (and NOT 1 March). Still, we should be very safe by then to make this a dead rubber. 8 February 2003Not a classic encounter, but MBFC was good enough to take home the oh-so-valuable three points. There is now some daylight between MBFC and the dreaded last place. 30 January 2003Game against G.P. Hoboken on Saturday (1 Feb) is called off. This game will now be played on Saturday 1 March. TAKE NOTE !! 30 January 2003Dutchie wishes to remind every player that he and his partner are invited to the housewarming party that he and Nicolette are throwing this Saturday in Tilburg. That is in Holland, about 75 minutes driving away. Just round the corner, basically. 25 January 2003Well, still no two back-to-back victories this season. We'll try again next week in another MUST-WIN game against G.P. Hoboken... 18 January 2003Finally. Everything clicked. And Van Dooren paid the price: they were soundly thrashed 5 - nil! 11 January 2003All games cancelled due to the cold weather. The AVVV hobos are such wimps... 6 January 2003Best wishes to everyone for 2003! 14 December 2002Our Supporters Day was celebrated in style: toasties to munch and hot gluhwein to sip. If only that football team had won this game. They sure dominated enough... 7 December 2002A shock penalty decision tilted the game in favour of the league leaders. Otherwise a major upset would have been on the cards with MBFC producing some very fine football indeed, despite the absence of several key players. 2 December 2002Everyone remembers seeing a very pregnant Anouk on Saturday. Well, no more (for the time being) because today Renzo decided to join the family (a fortnight early). Mother and son are fine, daddy Peter is over the moon and was allegedly seen dancing from joy. Honestly! 30 November 2002A superb performance and a missed (surely saved?) penalty saw us notch up our first win in the second part of the season. That makes it a clean 100%. 23 November 2002The Deurnese Turners jinx continues. And with a little help from the ref the final score was 5-0. 16 November 2002Yes, another defeat, but the result belies the fact that we outplayed these guys completely. They just had the nous to finish off the odd defensive slip-up... 10 November 2002A New Kid in Town: Chris John, a former MBFC player, and Dulcie Elliot, both no strangers to Molly Blooms, today became proud parents of a strapping son, Iwan David. CONGRATULATIONS !! All concerned, even Chris, are said to be doing fine. And the baby-boom doesn't stop there: News has filtered through that Gaston Thomissen, one of our current crop of players, and his lovely wife became the proud parents of a fine daughter, Nuria Daniela, on 3 November. Mother, daughter and father are doing fine. 9 November 2002The unbeaten run in the league comes to a crushing halt, but the 4-1 defeat at Volba doesn't alter the facts: still 6 points clear of the relegation zone! 2 November 2002MBFC crash out of the Cup after a 6-0 thrashing by Schoenen Coppé. 26 October 2002The MBFC bandwagon rolls on. After today's win against De Nieuwe Klok we can start to look upwards: two more teams are now within reach. And the MBFC Night Out brought us - among other things - a greater respect for that Mexican drink of drinks: tequila. 19 October 2002A slight stutter in our points race, but no more than that: a 2-2 draw that should have been a comfortable win. 12 October 2002All things must end. So too our losing streak. First points on the board. No looking back from now on. 5 October 2002Another defeat, but this was totally unjust as we outplayed them for 95% of the game. 28 September 2002MBFC continues its poor start to the season, losing 4-2 to Los Incas Peru. But we're scoring again, so that win is coming! 26 September 2002Date for the MBFC Night Out: Saturday 26 October. Players, supporters, girlfriends and boyfriends, write this date in your diary! Check the Events page for a detailed programme for 26/10. Team picture added to the Team page; Match photographs of 14/9 posted 21 September 2002Ouch! Losing 7-nil hurts like buggery! Still, the positive thing to remember is that this score was very flattering to Eendracht. Yes, they were the better team, but not by seven goals. Of which 4 were down to individual errors... 14 September 2002Another newly-promoted team, Athletico Joh, and these guys look like they're going places. To the first division, I reckon. Remember, you heard it here first! Unless we crush them next time round... 7 September 2002And here the similarities with the previous years end: played one, lost one. Still, considering we finished with only 8 players that 3-1 score wasn't all that bad! 31 August 2002Another football season has started and - this is becoming a habit now - we progress past the qualifying round in the Cup: 6 - 0 it was, including a brace by Paul! 29 August 2002Last-minute change in our league line-up: De Duvels have cried off and are replaced by BW Torfs Sport. As with SAVA, a complete unknown to MBFC, never having met before. Complete fixture list posted. 26 August 2002The yearly pre-season friendly at SK Laar turned out to be an eye-opener: good passing football and an even better team spirit. Bring on the Cup! 19 August 2002MBFC Tournament hosted and - but for that sudden rule change - won. As it is, Los Amigos hold the trophy until the next time. Click here for full report on the MBFC Tournament. 26 July 2002Website updated and prepared for the new season: fixtures, team, etc. 22 July 2002New training hours at Stabelino: THURSDAYS 19h00-20h30. Training starts on Thursday 8 August! 6 July 2002Players meeting went very smoothly, everyone shouting at some point. Several players left to form their own team because MBFC - i.e. Bernie - refused to chuck someone out "for clash of personality reasons", repeating that all who want to play for MBFC are welcome. 10 June 2002Date for a players' meeting set: Saturday 6 July (20h00) in the Members' Club of Molly Blooms. See 'Events'. 5 June 2002Probable opponents for season 2002-03 in division 2 B: 27 May 2002The Trophy Presentation Night went ahead without a glitch. For a list of who won what, click here. 13 May 2002The MBFC Ardennes weekend was a great success! Thanks to all participants and especially to the organisers behind the scene: Anouk, Christel, Peter and Jos.
