IWO-01 Buddha 27/04-11/05 Fest
Seoul
Work : There is the biggest ceremony and festival of Buddhism in Korea for the 2547th birthday of Buddha. On the closest Sunday to Buddha's birthday every year, there is a big street festival to celebrate it in Seoul. Also every temple has a ceremony on the birthday of Buddha. So, every temple prepares this festival and ceremony a lot for months. Volunteers will work for the ceremony in the temple where they stay and also prepare the street festival.
They will make paper-lanterns, decorate the temple and work to prepare the ceremony and festival. They clean around temple and the festival site after events.
Participants will experience various activities related with Buddhism and traditional Korean cultures
Accommodation: Buddhism Temple. Only vegetarian food will be served. Vegetarian is very welcome.

IWO-04 Jangbogo 26/04-05/05 Fest
Wando in Chonnam
Work : Jangbogo is the famous historical person in Korea. He was a general to protect Wando area from pirates around Korea peninsula. There is annual festival to celebrate his achievement in Wando island. Volunteer will help the festival and take part as actors as well.
Volunteer will learn Korean traditional musical instrument called Samulnori and perform at the street festival with joining the street march with local people
Accommodation: In the public hall.
Location: Wando county is in the west-south of Korea peninsular, almost 500km away from Seoul. This county consists of many islands nearby. Festival will be held in main island, Wando that is bridged from the land.
IWO-02 Maengsan 05/05-21/05 Envi
Sungnam in Gyeonggido
Work : The host is the local environment organization in suburb of Seoul. They have promoted to protect the local mountain from the environmental disruption since 1994. They had built up the environment school, “Maengsan Environment School” at the mountain in the environment friendly way for local people and kids. They will build up the small butterfly garden in the school for the ecosystem experience as an educational way as well as for the ecosystem restoration in the area.
Volunteers will do manual work to build up the small butterfly garden. They also join in the weekend environment class as a sub-teacher for kids and family. Volunteers will teach and show examples such as making a flute with flower leaf and drawing pictures of the nature.
Accommodation: In the Youth Center.
Location: Bundang, Sungnam city, Gyeonggido. It takes about 20min by subway from Seoul.
IWO-03 Green College 03/05-25/05 Envi
Hamyang in Gyeongnam
Work : The host is the environment college in Korea called ‘Green college’. They educate the ecology and practical ecotype methods to live. The school is located in above 500m in the mountain of the Backdu range. Volunteers will stay in the beautiful landscape and the nature around the school. They will build the eco-village and facilities of the school. Volunteers will join in these projects with students and local people.
Volunteers will help to build an eco-village and some facilities with the local people and students in environment friendly way; the building and facilities will be made up with mostly earth. Volunteers will join in the traditional instrument or dance class with students. It will be good opportunities to learn Korean traditional musical culture. There is one of famous temples in Korea nearby project site. Volunteers will also visit and help Buddhist temple during Buddha’s birthday such as cleaning and hanging paper lanterns etc. They will experience interesting Buddhism ceremony and cultures.
Accommodation: In Green College dormitory. It’s sort of Korean traditional house as an environment friendly building. Food is served and sometimes cooked by volunteers.
Location: Hamyang, Gyongsangnamdo is near to Jiri National Park. It is one of beautiful and famous mountains in Korea. It is about 400km away from Seoul.
IWO-71 Gandhi School 21/07-31/07 Kid
Sanchung in Gyeongnam
Work : Gandhi school is one of the famous alternative school in Korea. They organize 6days youth camp in order to teach the value of the nature and environment, group cooperation and independence. Participants will be a sub-teacher and live with youth during it such as supporting activities, teaching songs, showing their cultures and cooking together.
Participants will have a couple of orientation days with staff to understand the aim, objectives and activities of summer camp. They need to be ready to spend 24hours with youth for 5days. Participants will have 2-3 free days before and after the youth camp such as excursion in local areas, climbing Mt.Jiri and so on.
Responsibility and motivation to work with them are necessary! Games, songs, cooks and similar kind of experience are very welcome.
Accommodation: Korean style dormitory in the school located in the middle of mountain.
Location: Ghandi School in Sanchung, Gyeongnam is located near to Jiri National Park. It is one of beautiful and famous mountains in Korea. It’s about 350km away from Seoul.
IWO-7 Nohwa Island 27/07-10/08 Kid
Nohwa in Wando
Work : Nohwa is small island with 7,000 population in Wando County about 9km away from main land. So, the local kids don’t have many opportunities to get involved with outside of the island. Volunteers will be the bridge between the kids and the world with the intercultural exchange such as international games, cooking, and teaching English, camping in the beaches. Volunteers do voluntary activities with kids and join the local festival in the village. Responsibility and motivation to work with kids are important.
Accommodation: Public building in the local church.
Location: Nohwa island in Wando County, Chonnam is located in South-East coast of Korea.
IWO-73 Myongjin School 27/07-11/08 Disa/Kid
Chunchon in Kangwondo * Blind School
Work : This project is hosted by Myongjin School for blind children in Chunchon that is famous for beautiful lake and mountain. The blind kids need to get involved more in the society and contact with the people to experience and understand more. The volunteers will help the kids to know more about their circumstance like their city where they live in and go to picnic and do outdoor activities, English class, practicing performance and have a party with the people. Volunteers will provide them with these opportunities and also plant a courage and self-confidence on them. Volunteers are required to like children and be motivated quite well to the blind.
Accommodation: School dormitory.
Location: The school in Chunchon city is located in Gangwon province. It’s about 100km away from Seoul.
IWO-81 Gangneung 02/08-16/08 Kid
Gangneung in Kangwondo Orphanage
Work : This project is supported by Kwandong University in Gangwondo for the local orphanage founded by a former principal in 1950 in Gangneung, Korea. Gangneung is located in far east part of Korea where is most touristic place for the Korean with the plenty of nature. Volunteers will do painting to facilitate the orphanage with kids who are living in the orphanage. They will also carry out social volunteer service like providing lunch to the homeless to realize the society in cooperation with the others.
Accommodation: Dormitory in Kwandong University located in Gangneung city.
Location: Gangneung is located in East coast of Korea. It’s 3hours away
from Seoul by express bus.
IWO-82 Bongmyong 11/08-25/08 Envi
Chunchon in Kangwondo
Work : This workcamp is hosted by Kangwon National University in Chunchon city. ‘Bongmyong Forest Research Center’ in the mountain of the university has used by a number of researchers and student for the various research and experiment about the forest for a long time. Volunteers will help the work of the center in the mountain such as cleaning the bushes, cutting the branches, renovating the center facilities and so on. They will also help the local people by joining the agriculture work in the neighbour village.
Accommodation : In the forest research center.
Location : The center in Chunchon, Gangwondo is about 100km away from Seoul.

IWO-84 Sanan Village 25/08-06/09 Agri
Hwasung in Kyonggido
Work : Sanan Village is known as one of the successful alternative community in Korea. They started in 1984 and 40 people including 18 boy and girls live together now. They had formed the community to build the village that is more environment friendly life and ‘happy society’. They may seem to be far from the 'normal and capitalized life' but confidently close to healthy environment and Non-possession society.
The village wants to encourage young people to give more attention about the environment and share the public resources together. Participants will help the vegetable field works and join the village activities with residents such as party and sports.
Accommodation : .In the house of the community.
Location: Sanan Village in Hwasung, Gyeonggido is 100km away from Seoul.
IWO/NICE Toghther in Forest In August Envi 20

TIF is organized to get to know each country more deeply among young people. Korean and Japan has a very unique history for a long time through business, war, cultures, people and so on. Two countries are not so close emotionally even though they are so close geographically. TIF aims to understand and step forward each other between young people through working together in forest. They have a program two times a year in return. This program will bring the each country closer rather between young people.
IWO-TW Travelling Workcamp 26/04-25/06 4 volunteers only
Project : The project is organized for the international volunteer who want to stay longer in Korea and get more opportunities to look into Korea with workcamp activities. They will join workcamp projects, IWO-02 Maengsan, IWO-04 Jangbogo and another individual volunteering to organize the freetime activities for the students in the local high school. The volunteers will have much chance to experience with the local people and culture at the different places in Korea.
Remark : Volunteers have to be motivated to accept local condition.
