The Ship Photo Search Database

The Ship Photograph Search (SPS) database lists selected items from the "Offers" Lists and catalogues of some two dozen personal and public archive collections of ship photographs and negatives. The main subject areas are British-built and -owned merchant ships, built since the 1920s. Computer searches can be done for individual named ships, or lists of ships by Ship Owner may also be provided. To see an extract from the Ship Photo Search Database, click on Ship Photo Search: "Ne-". For other useful photographic sources. For select bibliography of books containing official builders' photographs.

Please note. Photographs of ships wrecked or sunk, especially ships lost before 1914, or War losses, are difficult to trace. I may have to refer you to the National Maritime Museum's Historic Photograph Collections.
