Datatrain AS/400 Course

The DATATRAIN AS/400 course is designed for users, operators and programmers alike, with over 75 hours training time included. The courseware has been upgraded to version 3.1 to keep it well and truly up to date. For those who have not worked in the AS/400 environment before, the course provides an introduction to the AS/400 as well as introductions to Query and Programming the AS/400.
For the programmers, there are topics on RPG 400, DB2/400, ILE and CL Programming, as well as a comprehensive Cross-Reference facility which covers the above as well as Query and Access/400. This provides immediate access to whichever topic on which the user needs training. Other topics which come with the course are Source-Entry-Utility and Subfile Programming.
The AS/400 suite of courseware contains 75+ hours of courses covering the broad spectrum of knowledge required by today's AS/400 personnel. - AS/400 Introduction
The AS/400 Introduction training course discusses the range of AS/400 e-servers and e-systems and teaches the student to recognise the System 36/38 in order to understand the concepts of the AS/400 system design. The course also covers the components, network attributes and device connections for the AS/400.

-AS/400 Concepts
The AS/400 Concepts training course discusses the concept of an object and how to determine an object's type based on its operational characteristics. Also covered are common Control Language commands, system security levels, the need for security and how it is supported on the AS/400. The On-line Help manual, different types of media and how each media type is handled by the AS/400 are also outlined.

-AS/400 Operations
The AS/400 Operations training course familiarises students with the keyboard and screen formats so that the student can access the system via commands and menus. The course also covers message types, delivery modes and message queues, maintaining job queues, working with printers, system hardware configurations and device connections. On completion of the course the student will also understand the Save and Restore facility, describe and perform an IPL and shutdown of the system as well as describe and use the AS/400 Operator Assistance Levels.
