Patrick Macnee biografie Patrick Macnee werd geboren in een aristocratische Engelse familie. Zijn vader was een succesvol paardentrainer en zijn moeder, Dorothea Hastings was een nicht van de Graaf van Huntingdon, volgens de legende afstammelingen van Robin Hood. Na de scheiding van zijn ouders werd Patrick opgevoed door zijn moeder en haar vriendin Evelyn. Op jonge leeftijd ging hij naar de 'Summer Fields Prep School' nabij Oxford waar hij samen met Christopher Lee optrad in Henry V. Daarna volgde Patrick lessen aan het Eton college waar hij naast het spelen van toneelstukken ook de belangrijkste bookmaker van de campus was. Na het Eton college volgde hij in 1940 lessen aan de 'Webber Douglas School of Dramatic Art'. Zijn filmcarrière begon in 1943 toen hij nog in dienst was bij de 'Royal Navy'. Na de oorlog liet hij zijn vrouw en twee kinderen achter in Londen om werk te zoeken in Canada. Hij trad op met het 'Old Vic' gezelschap op Broadway en was ook te zien op de Canadese televisie in talloze series en TV-films. In 1958 keert hij terug naar Groot-Brittannië om er als coproducent een documentaire te maken over Winston Churchill. Twee jaar later werd hij door Sydney Newman gevraagd om een rol te spelen in een nieuwe Tv-serie; 'The Avengers'. Maar Patrick zag zichzelf meer als producent en niet als acteur, uiteindelijk kon Newman hem toch overtuigen de rol van John Steed aan te nemen. Na 'The New Avengers' keerde Patrick terug naar de VS waar hij te zien was in verschillende TV-series.
