In 1985 Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams leave the Sisters
Of Mercy due to differences with singer Andrew Eldritch. They form a new
band in which Hussey assumes vocals. In 1986 Hussey & Adams call the new band
The Sisterhood and play their first show. They undertake a European tour
taking with them many of The Sisters Of Mercy roadcrew. Originally intending
to use the name The Sisterhood, this idea is scrapped after disagrements
and legal threats with Sisters frontman Andrew Eldritch. The Sisterhood
was the name of The Sisters Of Mercy's fanclub. Hussey and Adams decide to rename
their group to The Mission.
I got to know The Mission before I knew that two of their members had been part
of The Sisters OIf Mercy. I had become interested in the group after hearing
Amelia, a song featured on the Carved in sand album.
